Summer Experience is finally here! Each year, Sisters In Sync™ welcomes middle and high school young ladies to enroll in the My Sister My Friend™ Summer Empowerment & Exploration Experience. Our high-impact, leadership and career development program is designed for motivated middle and high school young ladies ready to make a difference.
This year’s theme, “A Different World: Higher Education,” focuses on guiding girls through academic, career pathways, and life skills. The experience features:
- Educational Career Field Travel: Exploration of diverse careers and hands-on opportunities in the workplace.
- College Exploration: Visits to HBCUs and other campuses, covering dorm life, majors, and scholarships.
- Leadership & Life Skills: Intensive development workshops to successfully prepare young ladies for adulthood.
- Career & Academic Focus: Financial literacy, career coaching, and networking.
2026 Summer Experience Information:
- Dates: June 29 – August 6, 2026.
- Days: Monday – Thursday. (NOTE: See daily modules and travel on the calendar below. No program on Fridays)
- Times: 10:00am – 2:30pm (Unless Otherwise Noted)
- Location: Enoch Pratt Free Library – Brooklyn Branch, 300 E Patapsco Ave, Baltimore, MD 21225 (Daily drop off and pick up)
- Audience: Middle and High School Young Ladies.
- Weekly Structure:
- Module Mondays: On-site workshops at the library. 10am.
- Tuesday – Thursday: Local travel and exploration days. 10am unless otherwise noted.
- Notes: During local travel days, drop-off and pick-up remain at the library location. Group travel is conducted via a Sisters In Sync, Inc. approved vehicle or public transit (such as the MARC train).
- Lunch: All participants must bring a daily packed lunch that does not require refrigeration or warming, unless otherwise noted.
Schedule:
- Week 1 (Business/ Entrepreneurship): Tour executive offices and discover what it takes to launch and run sustainable companies.
- Week 2 (Criminal Justice): Go behind the scenes with Maryland State Troopers to test-drive careers in law enforcement, public safety, and forensic science.
- Week 3 (Workplace Top Skills): Learn first-job fundamentals to unlock the executive habits needed to confidently step into your career field.
- Week 4 (Education): Discover K-12 and Collegiate careers in teaching and academic leadership by leading live peer workshops.
- Week 5 (Health Care): Step into labs to explore high-demand healthcare careers and practice hands-on lifesaving skills.
- Week 6 (Harvard Capstone): Experience life as an Ivy League student while traveling to Harvard University to deliver your final leadership project “A Different World: My Path, My Future”.
2026 Attendance & Financial Requirements
Attendance Requirements
- 6-Week Commitment: Participants must commit to the full 6-week program sequence to build their progressive Capstone components.
- Mandatory Sessions: Daily attendance is required during program hours to ensure full participation in career travel, business tours, and the forensic lab experience. Timely arrival is expected. We will leave the library promptly for travel. Young ladies arrive after the scheduled times will need to be driven to the travel location for that day.
- Harvard Eligibility: Successful completion of Weeks 1–5 assignments and attendance benchmarks is mandatory to participate in the Week 6 Harvard travel experience.
Financial Breakdown
- Free Program ($1,000 Value) Thanks to the generous investments from Sisters In Sync funders, this high-value experience, all daily summer programming, materials, and local travel are 100% free for selected participants. While there is no tuition cost to our families, this program represents a major community investment.
